What is the "Standard" Chinese Profciency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education published by Ministry of Education China.

9 Levels There are 9 bands of HSK, Elementary Level(Band 1-3), Intermediate Level(Band 4-6), Advanced Level(Band 7-9).

3 Levels and 9 Bands

Elementary HSK 1 - HSK 3

Ability to understand simple language and communicate effectively in social situations.

Intermediate HSK 4 - HSK 6

Ability to understand general language on a variety of topics and to interact fluently in social situations.

Advanced HSK 7 - HSK 9

Ability to understand complex language on a wide range of topics and genres and to participate in extended communication and discussion.
